I worry that we are being a bit premature congratulating ourselves on our British stiff-upper lip in the face of terrorism. I wonder how stoical and restrained we would be if we were getting about one major attack a week like the Israelis were in 2002?

What you're missing out on in the international news, is that the terrorist attacks are still coming about fifty times a month right now. They are just being foiled by a combination of the security wall, checkpoints, previous success with targeted killings, and a network of collaborators and intelligence.
